DeltagareLet me try this again. 🙂
There is something wrong with my 92. I cannot figure out what it is. At times the steering wheel pulls violently out of my hand and the car pulls to the right.
I was told that I needed to fill the CV joints with grease and that might correct the problem. It did not.
I was told it could be my ball joints. I posted a new topic asking if anyone knew where I could purchase replacement ball joints . Unfortunately, I received no reply.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I wish to keep my 92B on the road!
Thank you.
JimLåt mig försöka det här igen. 🙂
Tack.

DeltagareDoes it happen just like that or in a special situation? Condition of the brakes?

DeltagareTack for your reply.
The brakes are very good. The ”pulling” goes not happen when I step on the brakes. The ”pulling” comes out of nowhere, all of sudden the car just pulls for no apparent reason.25 juni, 2012 kl. 06:49 #45161ingvar k
DeltagareStrange. Have you checked wheel suspension both front and rear. Perhaps worn out bushings could give this ”characteristics” all of a sudden?

DeltagareSince the pull comes from ”nowhere”, I assume (correct me if I’m wrong) that it is just a short ”pull” although quite strong.
It sounds likely that it is caused by one front wheel breaking a short time. This may be caused by (one of) the brake shoes not being correctly retracted. I’m not that familiar with the drum brakes on SAAB92 but I assume that it is possible for one of the brake shoes to get stuck between its support and the drum and initiate (short) brake. So it might be worth removing the drum and inspecting the brake on the side that the car pulls to.
Maybe swapping the two shoes…. On some brakes, the two shoes are different, depending on the position and if the braking cylinder pushes on the ”start” or ”end” of the shoe with respect to the direction of the wheel rotation.Another possibility is that the braking emanates from the wheel bearing but if that’s the case you would probably hear some kind of abnormal noise from that bearing.
Good luck

DeltagareFixed. 🙂
It was a loose right ball joint.
Tack to all who replied with helpful advice.
