But seriously, Saab 9000 is half Fiat and a really good car. And I was thinking about the new Fiat 500 when I heard about Fiat. Saab V4 with a 1 liter turbo Biopower engine and a modern design, but you directly recognize it as a Saab V4.….. I know Saab has been trying hard, but biopower is allready out before its in… Lets hope Honda buys it instead and introduces a saab with hydrogen like the mighty FCX Clarity – that would be more promising for our future.
But on the other side, Fiat owns Ferrari, Maserati, Lancia and Alfa Romeo so i guess they could make a pretty cool Saab as well.. probably better than GM.
.. well that my thought anyway.

Fabio: I can think of many owners that would be far worse for SAAB than FIAT. In fact, FIAT is one of the coolest car makers in Europe if you ask me, design-wise at least – they make cars with a clear identity that you instantly recognize as a FIAT and nothing else. And safety-wise they also have improved immensely – look at the new 500 with its 5-star Euro NCAP rating. They may not be wonders of reliability but let’s face it – neither is SAAB these days; and interestingly they started going down hill after they left collaboration with FIAT last time…
I see that Fiat is considered very goos in many country like sweden.
In Italy many person buy fiat because in 1960 fiat has a big fabric Mirafiori, the biggest in the world with 60.000 person that work in it and when they buy a fiat car, they save 20% on the list price. So all people that work for fiat and the parents buy fiat, not important if fiat is not hard and the medium life is 5 year…the important is that is cheaper.
If in italy there was the salt like in sweden, the medium life of fiat is 1 year..Im curious how you can be soo anti-Fiat?
I got one now 200000km, 10 years old works fine.
And i got friend that got them aswell, and they work and breake down like any other car the have run for several years and 10-20’miles.
And they have the same corrosive treatment like Audi since 1984 i think, they almost dont rust since then.
In fact almost every Fiat Croma in sweden from the 80-90’ties have been door donors to Saab 9000 here in Sweden, due to the corrosive treatment of the Fiat. -
