Gear set V4

      A friend recently partcipated in the Rally Monte-Carlo Historique in his ’73 96, and he found that the gear ratios were not optimal. He had to shift a lot between 2nd and 3rd gear to go uphill at sufficient speed.

      I know there were several gear sets available for the V4 gear box so as to make use of power at higher RPM at relatively low speeds (the engine currently has about 85 hp).

      Where could I find any of these gear sets?

        Hi,

        you can find the different gear ratios on the Saabklubben homepage. Have a look in ”Saabfakta-Saabfakta-Saab 96-Utväxlingar”. To find the suitable set will be difficult. Sometimes final drives appear on ebay, tradera or blocket.

          There’s nothing there… only http://www.saabklubben.com/saabfacts/saabfacts.php# with some general 95/96 tips.

          At the moment there’s a diff. crown & pinion for sale on Tradera, but we were looking for a complete gear set.
