Nån som har provat Quaifes diff i en og900-låda?

I have one in my ’83 99 5-speed road car, it works well and is good on tarmac, if you lift a wheel it will behave just like an ordinary differential, so it would not be as good as a conventional plated diff on gravel.
Fitting this differential is more involved than fitting the standard diff.
There are two ways of getting it inside the gearbox.
1. You can grind away some of the aluminium at the rear of the gearbox, where the rear cover sits and you will need to remove some aluminium on the inside of the left inner driver area. I personally would not recommend this method, because you are removing material from an already weak area.
2. Split the differential in half by removing the allen bolts and also fit the ring gear in loose, then when all of the parts are inside the box, fasten everything up. On a 900 this can be done on a ramp with the box still in the car, but it is a little tricky, it is best done with the gearbox removed and on it’s side so the planetary gears cannot fall out.
I have some pictures, i will post them later.
This is the gearbox on it’s side with half of the differential fitted, as you can see doing it this way will stop the planetary gears from escaping.

This is the top cover of the diff fitted and the ring gear.

One other thing that needs to be done is to insert one plunger spring with two plungers inserted into it. You must use the smaller type springs or cut two longer springs down.

Interesting, I’ll bookmark this.
Does it make the gearbox noisy, or is it like before?
