On one hand yes, but on the other hand my intention always was to build a replica of the black 99 EMS rallye-car and that I told you when we first where in contact about the 99.

And if I may quote you from a PM you send me:

its not a shame to build a rally car off this saab 99 this car has everything yust a rollercage and some safty belts and its ready for the rally road.

As the car needs some repair and repaint anyway (had an off-road on a rally ) , it is a good point to change the appeareance now.

Erik! Remember that you are the owner & you can do what you want with your 99!

It look´s much better now without the pink steeringwheel Niklas had in this 99.

Yes, that is true and as I already said, I will do so with my car.

Thanks! I will post more pictures when I have some news.
I am changing the chassis to Sellholm-springs at front and standard rear as the car handles very bad with the kilen-springs if you realy push it. The rear-axle is a lot to hard and looses grip, jumps on bumps and so on… 😮

          Best Regards,
          Erik

                Small update.

Car is nearly ready. Bodywork straight again after the offroad, skärmbredare installed, new paint in and out.

I have put in the windows yesterday, so there is only some small things left to do. Next step will be the blue&yellow stickers. :hype:

                        Hej!

Just noticed that I forgot to post pics from the car, which was ready middle of july just in time for the biggest ”Slowlysideways”-Event in Germany – the ”Eifel-Rallye”.

Here are 3 pics taken some days before the rallye.

                        Cheers,
                        Erik

hast du verklisch eine 96? Und färst du rallye mit die grosse 99?
                              Wie so?

Junge junge junge! Warom 99 wenn du hast ein klar besser rallycar?

Haven’t read everything on your project, what motor specification do you have?

What do you have for brakes?

Where do you live in Germany?

                                  Hello Jan!

Engine has Walle told you already. Tack Walle!

Else it has a full roll-cage, FIA-approved bucket-seats, everything moved out that is not necessary (seats, intereior, carpet…). Sump-guard under the engine. 4-speed dogg-box with limited-slip-diff by Jörgen Eriksson, sinter-clutch; rallye-chassis with Bilstein-shock-abosrbers, Sellholm-springs front and standard-springs rear (still too hard at the rear-end!), by now still standard-brakes, but will install Porsche 914 brakes rear.
Engine has about 175 horsepower with good torque.

The orange 96 in the background is indeed my second rallye-car. I bought it 10 years ago from denmark and restored it to look like the 1974 RAC-car from Stig Blomqvist.
                                  1780cc-V4 with dubbelblas-cylinder heads, korsinsug with 2xWeber 45, 7.6-camshaft… 7:38 special 1 gearbox (or was it special 2? don’t remember); rollcage, FIA-bucket seats.

Why I run the 99 right now?

The 96 is not realy the perfect rallye-car for rallyes in Germany. The car is fun to drive, but we mostly drive on tarmac in Germany. The little gravel we have is mostly very bad, so you easily turn over the 96. I tried two years in a gravel-championship in Germany, but the tracks are not good and fast enough for the 96!
So, the 99 is the better solution here.

Still some fine-tuning necessary on the 99, but it is already quite good.

I live in the south-west of Germany, west of the city Mainz.
                                  Cheers,
                                  Erik
