Hej!
I have a question concerning gearbox-oil for competition:
Which gearbox-oil should I use in my rallye-V4 with Limited-Slip-Differential??
I called Castol in HAmburg and asked for Castrol Hypoy LSC as SAAB recommended in the ´70s, but this oil is not available anymore.
They told me to use normal EP 80 as for normal SAAB-Gearboxes….What do you use?

I use Quaker State gearbox oil in my car, they have one for Limited Slip, i am not sure at the name, I think it is
”Quaker State High Performance 80/90”
not sure if its straight 80 or multigrade 80/90, bur I can check if you want to.Regards Roger

Jag använder 76 MP Gear Lube. Den går såväl i diffade lådor som normallådor med synkringar.

The gearbox oil I use have this name.Quaker State High Performance Gear Lubricant SAE 80W-90EP Limited-Slip & Conventiional Differentials API GL5
That´s all text there is on the bottle..
Do you not find it in Germany you can send me an e-mail and then I can send over oil to you.

Castrol Hypoy LSC has the name Castrol LSC now, you can use that oil instead, that oil is avilable in Sweden.
Regards RogerLsc does not exist anymore, I´ve been spoken to Castrols staff and they say that the replaysment oil is Saf-xj 75w-140.
He`s name is Björn Wallin and phonenumber to Castrol is 441 11 00.

ErikI talked to a Castrol-engineer, he told me that the Castrol Saf-xj 75w-140 is normaly meant to be used in backaxles(rear-wheel-drive) with Limited-Slip-Diff.But he said that it is not so good for the gearing, only for backaxles… [image]http://www.saabregistret.se/ubb/confused.gif[/image]
I’ve got the same answer from the local Volvo-dealer (who is the only one around my neighbourhood supplying Castrol).
But how about my tip: 76 MP Gear Lube 75W-90? Though I at the moment are experiencing great difficulties with the clutch I don’t blame it on the oil.
Ok, i will contact Björn at Castrol and tell him this and get back to you with information about why he recomended this oil.

är vad jag förstår igentligen avsedd är bakaxlar med diffbroms, eller har jag fel?
Stämmer det så är nog inte Castrol SAF-XJ
