      Hi all!

Spoke to the people running the parking area, parking costs 40,- with 50% of the money going to the local sports club KIK. Looking forward to seeing lots of Saab’s and their owners. – Gary

Big thanks to all for turning up today, was impressed with the number considering it is so early in the year. 4 older cars, 93, 2×96, 99, and a couple of new Saab’s made it out today. Not the warmest weather to stand in the carpart and talk about the cars so we got inside rather quickly and I think everyone enjoyed the warmth, coffee and cake.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at the next meeting on the 22 March at Björkängs Vägkrog in Varberg.

Probably a little late but here is an image of the installation instructions I took with me when putting my 96 through besiktning.

That was certainly a good weekend at the racetrack and the 1000cc Cupen the most entertaining of all the race, well done to all.

Haven’t had a chance to go through all the photos but it was fun seeing the different cars in the 1000cc Cupen.

Seems like Anders Jensen (No 34) had a bit of an arguement with someone in the second heat.

And Karl-Gustaf Rundberg found that when pushing for 3rd place it is better with 4 wheels, not 3. Thankfully only pride and car were hurt.

Will post more images once I have had a chance to go through them properly.

I think it is safe to say that everyone who took part in the rally enjoyed it. There were 7 Saab’s and 5 VW’s competing so this year the club prize went to Saab Hallandia. Last year it went to Halmstads Luftkhuler.

There was enough space at the start area in Sik, it was good to see a mixture of Saab’s and VW’s parked together.

The start order was mixed with Saab’s and VW’s starting off at two minute intervals.

While waiting at the finish for the first car to arrive a Mat-Black V4 Custom turned up, haven’t seen this one before and in my eyes, a nice car to drive and have fun in, no need for lots of polish or worries, just driving fun. Never had the time to take more photos of it but one thing it did have was a twin straight pipes, interesting sound. Hopefully we will meet the car again at future Saab Hallandia meetings. Looking forward to it.

All cars arriving at the finish timer were photographed and the overall winner was Peter Olsson and family in their V4, 8 seconds off the ideal time of 1:24:36 and full points on the questionnaire.

The car with the best time was a VW Beetle, blue, lowered, with only 1 second off the ideal time. That was neat driving.

Cafe Stegared was the perfect setting for the Saab’s and VW’s to park, and the Cafe Stegared itself is definitely worht another visit before the season is over.

A big thanks to all who attended and made the event such a success. Looking forward to the next time we all meet up again.

Another successful meeting. Thankfully this year the weather held out till after I got home, so it was sunshine and a little breezy.

10 Saabs turned up and I think it is safe to say we all had a good time. I held a small ”Peoples Choice Award” but not for the ”Best Car” but rather ”Which car deserves a new fire extinguisher” and the car that got the most votes was a well turned out Saab Sport.

All in all a good day and a big thanks to all who turned up to help make it so.

I got what I was hoping for, more Saab’s. Out of 19 veteran cars that turned up, 9 were Saab’s.

New to me was a really nice 1978 Saab 900, hope to see that around at Saab Hallandia meetings in the future. A nice 93, and a number of 96’s covering different years and including 2 Saab Sports from different years as well. Nearly a perfect turn out except we didn’t win the ”Peoples Choice”. That went to a 1958 Chevrolet Impala Conv.

The other 10 veteran vehicles included a 1930’s Tandem.

                  A really nice Lotus Europa.

Overall a really nice collection of diverse cars. Hopefully we will be able to do better next year, but I am not complaining about the turn out, who knows, maybe a Sonett is needed to catch the peoples choice award.

A big thanks to all who attended from the board of Krogsereds Bygdegård.

Next meeting of Saab Hallandia will be on the 9th August at Sjönevads Marknad. It has been a fun gathering the past couple of years and am looking forward to meeting everyone again this year.

I think a big ”thank you” to Mats-Ove for arranging the rally and leading the pack through the back roads. Some amazing stretches of road. We met up at Hallandsås Motel for the start, this is some of the first cars to turn up.

In total there were 11 cars, some new ones we haven’t seen before and some of the ”ye ole faithful” cars. We stopped for a break half way in a nice wooded area beside a lake.

And then we drove on to the finish at Snapparp Rästplats.

Perfect weather the whole time, couldn’t have asked for better. Looking forward to the next time we all get together.

One of the more diverse meetings we have had in Saab Hallandia, 11 Saab’s and an Opel. Big thanks to all who attended, hoping that we will have such a good turn out at the next meeting in June. We found a good place to park and slowly but surely cars started arriving.

There was a magic 1987 900 convertible, full pressure turbo, aero front and rear..

Couldn’t get better than that, then again…

When we had all arrived, parked, and had a good look and chat around the cars it was off to Glassbo Våffelstuga to enjoy some coffee and waffles.

When the owner found out that we had parked a number of Saab’s outside in the parking area he asked us to bring them into the court yard so everyone could see them. So back to the cars and in a short time we were all parked in the court, a lot of interest from the owners, both came out with their cameras, and the other guests had nothing but good comments and stories of past memories around Saab’s.

If you find yourself in the area, or driving up road 26, I would highly recommend stopping off for a break, one of the best places I have been to with the Saab, definitely on my list for another visit.
Again, thanks to all who attended and looking forward to the next meeting.

I have been working more on the Average Speed Tables and have managed to invest in a good printer and spiral binding equipment, only way to keep the production costs down.

I have also added more information on my site about the Speed Tables, and a few other things I am working on, like the Saab wiring diagrams, you can find the information at: http://www.car-id.biz, just click on the menu item on the right for Average Speed Tables. Currently in English but this will change to Swedish once I get a good translation done.

The problem I am facing at the moment is finalizing the contents of the Pro version of the Speed Tables. I wonder if any rally drivers/navigators on the forum can help. I am having a problem with how detailed the contents should be. I have searched around for details on the net but there is not much on the Km/h tables. For the MPH tables I am planning on having the contents like this:

                        MPH
                        10
                        11
                        12
                        13
                        14
                        15
                        16-35 in 0,1 of a MPG (i.e. 16,0 16,1 16,2….)
                        36
                        37
                        38
                        39
                        40

That gives a total of 116 pages, or 211 sides of data.

For the Km/h table I am thinking of the following contents:

                        Km/h
                        20
                        21
                        22
                        23
                        24
                        25-55 in 0,1 of a Km/h (i.e. 25,0 25,1 25,2…)
                        56
                        57
                        58
                        59
                        60
                        61
                        62
                        63
                        64
                        65
                        66
                        67
                        68
                        69
                        70
                        71
                        72
                        73
                        74
                        75

This gives a total of 175 pages, or 325 pages of data. The pages containing 0,1 Km/h increments are printed doubled sided.

Should I go ahead with the above or does anyone have suggestions on a better layout. It should be noted that with all the data I have compiled and formatted I can make custom speed tables.

If you can help or know of anyone that could help me with this, please let me know, it will be appreciated.

Just an update as I have moved the PDF files to another place on my website and hate leaving dead links around incase people are looking for things. If you go to my website, http://www.car-id.biz, and click on the menu item Project Drawings, you will find all the service ramp drawings there. I have also added two new car ramp drawings, Sonett and one that will fit both the Sonett and 96.

Bengt: Nice photographs, must have been fun walking around looking at the cars and speaking to the different people. One thing I noticed, some of the cars had what looks like a steel disc on the center of the wheel, some on the front wheels, others on the back, any idea what these were for.

                                februari 2, 2014 kl. 22:07 #73460

Thanks for the info. I managed to get the car out of the garage on Saturday to drive it around to try and find out where the noise was coming from. Typically, no clunking noise. So I drove the car to a meeting and no noises there or back. I drove in circles with full lock, both forwards and backwards, still nothing.

All I can think of is that something, like a stone or chunk of ice, got stuck somewhere in the front wheel and came loose when I had the car up on the lift, or melted. At least I know the one boot is split so I will take care of that as soon as I can. As for the clunking, I will just have to keep my ears open for it in the future.

One thing I noticed with the car, the Verona green is a very nice colour against the snow.

Now to get back to the original list of things that need done to the car. Hopefully the clunking won’t return and I can enjoy driving the car.

                                  januari 28, 2014 kl. 22:54 #76202

Haven’t been able to get the car out for a drive yet but on Sunday I managed to get the car up on the lift and had a good look around and behind both front wheels. Nothing seems out of place and nothing is loose. Tried rotating the wheels to hear if there were any strange noises, but nothing, suppose it need weight on it to put pressure on the bearing if there is something foreign in them. Hopefully tomorrow I will get the car out and see if the noise is still there and where it is coming from.

I did find a small split in the rubber boot on the front right wheel, a little grease is seeping out, I will put that on my list of things to replace. I have a new boot that is split so that you can glue it together once you fit it, but would I be able to clean out the bearing while everything is still on the car, or is it easier to remove the complete driveshaft and clean it off the car.
